All current Year 10 course material will be removed from the My Homeschool platform on December 1st 2026.
Current Year 10 families will be offered an upgrade to the new Year 10 syllabus, which is scheduled for release in October 2026.
Year 10B Curriculum Highlights
Stage 5 NSW Syllabus
The Year 10 Homeschool Curriculum offers a course that will see your teenager to a strong completion of their high school studies. It caters to a range of students, whether they are looking to continue further studies, enrol in university, study at Tafe or head into the workforce.
Parent Involvement
By this stage, most students are working very independently, which is supported by the delivery of My Homeschool courses via the Moodle platform. Parents can expect to be more of a guide, checking written work, helping them to get and stay organised, and participating in discussions too. There are also read alouds and Enrichment subjects to enjoy together as a whole family.
English
Our exclusive Skills in English resources Expression and Voice (Semester 2) teaches both text analysis and writing skills while showcasing excellent examples of written work. Your teen is taught how to become a skilled and confident essay writer and how to apply these skills across all subjects.
Students also study Shakespeare, novels, poetry, drama each semester and the course has several works to read and love, including historical fiction.
Maths
Here at My Homeschool we appreciate that families like to select the maths program that best suits their teenager. So, rather than offering a “one size fits all” (that doesn’t actually fit!) we provide a thoughtful shortlist of the best Maths programs for homeschoolers at this stage of their studies. You can select which one you wish to use.
We include a 50% discount to Maths Online if you wish to use that program.
Science
Semester 2 contains contributions in modern Science and recent discoveries around microbiology, biodiversity, traditional Land Management practices, and much more. Students will read from different science writers and consider how science helps solve complex situations.
Our Science Hub offers a range of living books, resources and hands-on explorations that don’t need expensive equipment and Living Science Books are included.
Modern History
Continuing the chronological study of history since Year 7, students cover Global Modern History in Year 10. Each semester students complete two In-Depth Modern History Studies, including focusing on the rise of Asia (Semester 2). Writing activities, reading captivating Living Books, and preparing Book of Centuries records are included in each lesson.
Geography
Featuring Living Books, mapping, case studies, and data analysis that will engage your teen as they examine a modern approach to physical Geography and environmental management (Semester 2).
Electives
We provide extensive Elective Extension Subject Guides. These allow you to curate a tailor-made program suited to your teen so they can devote time to the subjects that really interest them. We show you how to do this in a simple and easy way.

Our Year 10 course includes extensive Enrichment Activities carefully designed for high schoolers. We also don’t forget the importance of your child’s physical and mental health, including a resource specifically focusing on building their personal development (Semester 2).
Exams
To help with assessment and review, end of term exams are provided. There are plenty of support materials for parents who wish to use these.
Additional Costs
Expect to pay up to $150 for novels, printing and a maths program.
There is a lot on offer for Year 10. It has the rigor you can expect from studying at this level but keeps the joy in your homeschool.

We Use A Blended Learning Approach
At My Homeschool most of your lessons will be completed offline (reading from a book, doing a field trip, or writing in your notebooks) and some will be online learning (watching videos, reading online etc.).
All our resources are digital and are located on Moodle, a renowned online learning platform used by many schools and universities. Using this format means we give you exceptional functionality which enables you to record your progress, and access your lessons from various digital devices and locations. This format also enables us to keep our resources fresh and dynamic.
A laptop, tablet, or desktop computer is needed to use our courses. Access to a printer is also necessary. PDFs can be downloaded and printed for offline reading but other resources can only be viewed from our learning platform.
The majority of our classes require reading from a real book or paper-based resource. Writing exercises involve pencils and paper and many lessons are oral or conversation based.
Video lessons require access to the My Homeschool learning portal.

My Homeschool offers parents the confidence that their child is gaining knowledge, learning content, and developing skills in an age-appropriate way. From Foundation to Year 10 your child will have the benefit of a streamlined curriculum without overlaps and unnecessary busywork. Our program development is inspired by the education philosophy of Charlotte Mason and the Australian Curriculum (which includes the NSW & WA Curriculum).
Registration and Reporting
At My Homeschool, we do not do your registration plans for you. Registration applications are meant to be specific for each individual child and so parents are the best person to do this. However, we make your registration (or an exemption) so much easier because we provide so much support for this process. All our courses includes:
- An Education Plan offered in a format that you can individualise for your child;
- A Scope and Sequence showing how My Homeschool reflects the Australian Curriculum and NSW Curriculum;
- End of Term Report templates;
- A printable week-by-week planner with plenty of space to make notes specific to your child (no need to purchase a separate planner!); and
- An online Weekly Planner, complete with links to all the online resources required.
We also provide you with access to our State Rego and Planning Course which guides you through your homeschool application when using our courses. We give you a shortcut to help you get straight into giving your child a delightful and robust education without spending days and days researching and tweaking unsuitable content.

Loving Learning Again
“He’s just not doing well. He’s not interested in what he’s learning, and his grades are going down. I’m worried he might start getting into trouble.” This was Sally’s comment to me as we spoke about her teenage son. He was due to start Year 10 in a couple of months and Sally was no longer sure that school was a good fit for him. But she was hesitant to try homeschooling. She thought it was better suited for younger grades and was worried that she wasn’t up to it either. After all, she wasn’t a teacher.
Deciding it was a little of ‘now or never’, Sally jumped into homeschooling.
Some days weren’t easy, but their efforts paid off. Her son became interested in learning again. He was reading books. He was writing narrations and discussing with her what he’d been learning.
She discovered that he loved maths (and was really good at it) thanks to using a program that actually worked for him. Sally also found that he was a more confident writer. As for getting into trouble, instead of that, he’d made some great friendships.
“Homeschooling saved us!” was her comment later on. Her son was looking to enrol in an Open Universities online course and continue with his maths.

They also have opportunities to spend time on their own particular interests. We have designed a generous Year 10 course and help you to support your child further through elective studies too.
